My story, from employee to contractor

Becoming a contractor wasn’t my first choice, but it was a decision born out of necessity and a desire for financial stability. I had been made redundant twice, and the constant job insecurity had worn me down. I didn’t want the added responsibility of managing people, but the prospect of earning more income was enticing.

Through various contract projects, I discovered a wealth of skills I never knew I had. Each project presented unique challenges that forced me to adapt and learn. I became proficient in project management, client communication, and even technical skills I hadn’t considered before.

In the end, becoming a contractor was a way for me to take control of my career and finances. It wasn’t my initial plan, but it turned out to be a rewarding path that allowed me to develop and thrive in a constantly changing professional landscape.

Now, my journey as a contractor has led me to a point where my primary goal is to give back and mentor others who may be starting down a similar path. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve not only honed my technical skills but also gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of contracting, finances, and compliance.

Having navigated the ups and downs of this career choice, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed. If you’re looking for support, guidance, or simply someone to bounce ideas off of, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I believe that the strength of our community lies in supporting one another, and I’m here to offer my wealth of experience to anyone who can benefit from it.
